  • Again...we're not allowed to go home

A co-worker came up to me.

CW: Hey, those people over there would like to complain about their food.
    Me: OK...

    I went over.

Me: Hi there, how can I help?
SC: Yes...well we ordered this food...and it just isn't as nice as it was last night.
Me: Oh...does it taste bad? Is it cold?
SC: Well...no...the portions just aren't as big as they were last night.
Me: Oh...OK, is that all thats wrong?
SC: Yes, don't worry, we're not looking for compensation or anything, we just wanted to make you aware of it.
Me: OK then, I will take note of your complaint and pass it onto the cooks.
SC: Is the cook having a bad night or something? Because the food he served last night was completely different.
Me: Well, the cook who was in last night is off tonight. We have a couple of new people we are training, it could be because of that.
    SC: Wha...where is he?
Me: Well it's his night off.
    SC: That's ridiculous, isn't it?
    Me; Umm...sure.

Ridiculous. Noone needs a night off! Not even the two at the restaurant! They shouldn't be there - they should be at work!

(Apparently, my ! key doesn't need time off either.)

    1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
    2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
    3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
    4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

What? Didn't you know? People who work with the public only exist to work, they don't have lives of their own!

I'm sorry, sir, I'm afraid his coolant was leaking so we had to shut him down and take in to an android repair shop.

I also love the people who when you tell them the person they spoke to before is on break (i have no clue if the person is on break... but it's easier to put the person on hold, check my email, and then bring them back and lie than find the person isn't on break and work out a transfer between calls... which sucks, so yeah...) they'll get upset, i've heard the line "you knew you had someone who wanted to reserve a group of 5 rooms and you were going to risk the sale by having someone go on break" (or similarly stupid claim)... umm, yeah, we need time off too, just like you... and oddly all of the time people who make the claims are claiming things that are no big deal... (5 rooms in a hotel with 500 is nothing, especially when the week they are staying there is a group that rented half of the hotel).
