So my day started out sucking...

I had to make a stop at PetSmart tonight on my way to work to get cat food. The cases I buy are usually on the bottom shelf. No real problem, except that when I knelt down to get the case, I put my knee in a puddle...

Yup, you guessed it. Someone failed to clean up after their pooch, whether they noticed it or not.

So I got to make another stop, at target to get myself a new pair of jeans to change into when I got to work...

I did let them know about it. Hopefully, it gets cleaned up before someone slips in it.

That happens to me at home; sometimes it's puke. I have lots of cats, and most of them have been in for the winter. Guess what? We don't have carpets in my house! They make a mess, I clean it up; we tried it the other way around but agree that this way works much better for everyone.

FREE ADVICE: White vinegar WORKS for removing the smell of cat urine. Of course, it is not to be used as a substitute for having your pet spayed or neutered, but it is non-toxic and the smell is not unpleasant and disappears after a few minutes. I mop with it, and keep a spray bottle full of it to use like Windex or Fantastik. It is very cheap, too. Those "special" formulas for removing pet stains/odors cost a fortune and don't really work any better IMO. Vinegar works because the acetic acid neutralizes the bases (urea, ammonia, etc.) that are the primary source of the odor(s) characteristic of cat urine. Not sure if it works on dog or any other type of pee.

It works on dog urine as well. I keep a spray bottle of vinegar, water, & a little dish soap to use for exactly that purpose.

I'd never heard of the vinegar thing before. And we're thinking of getting another puppy....so this tip will likely be coming in handy. Thanks!

We used vinegar when Baby used to spray. I NEVER knew that female cats could spray in heat.

              Yeah, just don't drink it.

                You're thinking of malt vinegar.

All cats can spray; it's just most likely with males.

I'm a bit OC about where I put my feet, so the possibility of me kneeling in something unpleasant is just about nil.

But still, how hard is it to keep track of your pet? Then again, it shouldn't be that hard to keep track of your kid, either, but some people shouldn't ever be responsible for other's lives, whether their pets or kids or what have you.
