  • I am not a Bank!

Ok, this is a completely random story that I REALLY should have remembered before 3:15 a.m., but it simply must be told. The shopping center that contains the Wendy's in which I am employed also contains a Bank of America, coincidentally the closest building to mine. So close that anyone pulling into OUR store would have to be nearly blind to miss it; hell, I use it as a landmark when guiding people to the store. It takes MAYBE 30 seconds to walk over to the bank from Wendy's (and many of our customers could use said walk )

    [rant]
Today I had 2 requests for change for a hundred dollar bill (BEFORE the bank closed, mind) and another request for crisp, fresh bills (don't recall the time on that one, so it may be more excusable).
And of course we get the request for "cash back on a credit card" at least once a week. Its not really that bad; but for the love of God, people, there is a GENUINE bank RIGHT THERE! We are a FAST FOOD WAGE SLAVES, the wonderful employees at B of A are BANKERS. The employees not in ridiculous uniforms are the people who can handle requests for specific change and cash back; why the hell are you asking ME this kind of thing!?
    [/rant]

My apologies, my social graces tend to vanish in the early morn. But honestly, it just pisses me off when people treat the limited funds of a small fast food joint like a bank when there's one 30 seconds of walking away! After fast food a walk wouldn't kill 'em, anyways

Well that's about all I have to say about that; now, I sleep!

    It's okay Karath.

Just tell those SCs "I'm sorry, a customer had just came in and cleaned me out of all the small bills! Try the BANK next door!"

If you won't then I will.

Let me guess theres even a sign posted that says no bills bigger then a 20 will be accepted. I dont know a fast food place (except pizza places) that will accept anything higher then a 20.

I have ranted about this before.

Thursday I had two customers in a row pay for a meal that was under 10 dollars with a 100.

the second one pissed me off so much that he got all 1's back.

What did he do? when i asked if he had smaller bills he said yes. but that money is money and that was how he was going to pay.
My sanity has been dripping out of me my whole life, today they turned on the faucet.....

We take big bills if we have the change. Never fails, though, the SAME WOMAN comes through at 10:30 (this is Toxic Hell, mind you) every single day with a 100 dollar bill. Every single day I have to throw her food away because we can't change that bill that early.

Does she learn? Of course not. I wouldn't talk about her here if she did. Oh, and did I mention she gets all huffy EVERY DAY? Some people's children ...

be VERY careful about doing these. By getting cash back at a store and not a bank they don't have to pay the interest/fees that they would by going to a bank.

The store I'm at used to give un-pumped fuel back as cash no matter what the payment type was. Then the credit card company found out and gave a a WHOPPING fine. It was so big our hours were cut for three weeks just to make up for it.

So if your boss is looking for an excuse to fire you don't give cash back on credit cards!

I've done this before- gotten cash back from a debit card. However, my reasons were that it was Sunday and I had maxed out the amount that I'm allowed to withdraw from my bank's ATM in one day (I knew I had the funds and more) and still needed another 100 dollars. I was on my way to purchase an organ from a little old lady and needed cash.

So I went to CVS and paid for a box of cookies on my debit card and got $40 cash back. Then I went to Brooks Pharmacy and did the same thing.

I specifically went to two different places because I knew that getting cash back isn't good for the register drawers, but I had no other choice.

I have never done it on any other occasions, but CVS and Brooks both offer cash back on little signs at the registers. Because they do, does this make it non-sucky?

Debit cards are a totally different matter. As long as you ask to get cash back and not demand to get cash back your golden. You even went to different places instead of demanding that one give you 100 cash back.

Naw your as far from sucky as you can get.

Ah... no, it's not. If I can't change it, then you're going to have to use a smaller bill. If you aren't prepared to pay with something I can change, then you don't get your purchase . Have a nice day".

I'll definitely remember that, thanks Raieth! Fortunately its impossible for us to give cash back on our registers if someone's paying with card. That's usually when I point out the bank

If it's the same woman every day with the same $100 bill, why don't you confirm how she is going to pay before you make the food? Or does she always go through drive through? And even then, you should be able to recognize her car by now.

I don't understand people who want cash back at a fast food joint. That just makes no sense. Heck, I don't really like asking for cash back at convenience stores, and half the time the clerks there ask if I want it.

And even if I want cash back at a regular grocery, I say, "Can I get $$ back?" rather than just declaring that I want so much back. Unless it's a spot decision and the choice is made at the POS machine at the checkout.

Around here most small businesses have a sign up that they don't accept anything larger than a $20. Too many of them got hit with counterfeit $100 bills about two years ago when a couple papered the area. They went from strip mall to strip mall, passing as many bills as they could in one day. They were very good fakes too.

I say be wary of anyone wanting to change a $100 bill or purchase a very small amount of merchandise. They may be passing a counterfeit. One business I know has a policy that they only accept large bills if you purchase at least half the value of the bill. Good policy as far as I'm concerned.
                            "Any free samples?"
                            "Sorry, not today."

Come on people, we're a bank not a bakery.
