  • Double 920 with fries and a shake

I was having such a good day today. Why must the 920s inflict themselves on me as it's coming to an end?

Was walking out the stockroom doors to punch out and get out when I was flagged down by some crotchety old skinbag waving a copy of our 3-day sale ad.

SC: WHY AREN'T THESE VIVA TOWELS $9.99 LIKE YOUR AD SAYS!? I ALREADY GOT STUCK PAYING FULL PRICE FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ON SALE AND I'LL BE DAMNED IF I DO THAT SHIT AGAIN!

Ranty and sweary, not a good combination. I get the ad flier from her and point out the big letters above the pictured Viva paper towels saying "Thursday Only Bonus Buys."

    SC: THAT'S MISLEADING!

Are 920s your version of 867s?

Add 715s to that as well.

Yes, yes they are. However 920s seem to be a special kind of stupid.

Specifically, "aggressively stupid." The people who shoot their wad of righteous indignation at me, only to find out they were wrong in the first place.

On bad days it's like I'm trapped in a bukkake of aggro-spew.

How do you know they're from 920? Are they somehow saying what their phone number is?

Well, I am making kind of an assumption. The 920 area code does cover somewhat of an area and we have about 9 stores an hour or less away from us within the same area code, so I am assuming the majority of my customers are locals.

867 is the infamous area code of a big swath of northern Canada called Nunavut. Gravekeeper gets many many consistently bizarre/sucky calls from there and, thankfully, regales us with his tales of horror.

I assume 715 contains customers that give blas a hard time. The same with 920 and IPF.

                  Ciao!

I learned from Spiffy a few weeks ago that 867 also includes the Yukon and Northwest Territories.

I, thankfully, do not have the equivelent of an 867 in my area. The vast majority of my customers were from the same area code; in Store1 there is a second area code that is close enough to get a fair amount of customers, but the stupid was just mixed in with the normal people. I like to think it gets diluted a bit that way...

I had posted about about a specific nation code that we see on our calls that seems to have more than it's share of people that you don't want to be troubleshooting for. Thinking about it more, I agree with Spiffy McMoron: There is stupidity everywhere. However, I'm sure anyone who speaks with people from a large area has noticed that it seems to form pockets of suck. Automatically assuming this can make you to be an SE when you're expecting an SC.

Expanding on this, posters shouldn't assume someone's from a specific area code based on behaviour, because that's exactly like assuming all people from *area* are stupid, and we've had more than a few issues about that in the past, where someone made a generalization about an area, and another poster was from there, and was offended.

If you have first-hand knowledge that someone's got a specific area code, or is from a specific place, then that's okay to mention, but not to tar them all with the same brush.

Ah jeez, I tried to have a little fun and it seems I've offended needlessly instead. I guess I know better now.

Feel free to close this one. I may be overreacting but I'm in a pissy mood anyhow.
