  • you're responsible

A guest called the other night and the conversation went something like this

Me: Thanks for calling our company, this is Dave, how may I help you?

Guest: yea, I am staying at one of your rental homes and my family and I are going out to dinner and we all wanna drink. Do you provide transportation?

Me: No sir, but I will be glad to give you the number to a taxi

Guest: But I gotta pay for that, right? No thanks, what other options do I have?

Me: Well someone in your party would have to be a designated driver

Guest: No, they all have to drink (yes he said they HAVE to drink. I smelled an alcoholic here)

Me: Well then you'll have to pay for a taxi

Guest: well that's expensive.....surely,, you can offer me other options

Me; I'm sorry sir but I cant

Guest: Ok well then we are gonna have to drive drunk. We could get killed or kill someone else. Is that what you want?

Me; No sir, of course not but if you drive drunk, that's your choice

Guest: No it's not, you're not giving us any choices and if we get pulled over, you are responsible

This went back and forth for several minutes until finally I just hung up on him.

Now if only you knew where they were drinking, then you could alert the bar. Obviously they're going to be asses there too.
How was I supposed to know someone was slipping you Birth Control in the food I've been making for you lately?

If you knew what type of car they had with them I would have called the police and gave them the info.

"May I recommend walking sir? No? Well then may I have your lodge number? I'll have a car over there straight away to 'assist' you."

"Hello police? I have an interesting situation for you..."

I agree with ya! I have no problem with turning in those who are over the limit and decide to drive..it's my civic duty as far as I'm concerned!

Drunken Masters are awesome, but Drunken Drivers... not so much.

Geez extortion much? "Give us a better option or we might kill people!"
I would have tried to turn them into the police, if possible.

You should have leveled with him.

"Look, i know you're trying to get us to pay for your cab but the fact is we don't do that and it isn't going to happen, so why don't you give up and arrange for a safe ride yourself."

And if he insisted on continuing with the "Well i guess we're going to drive drunk" BS just like Leopardmadcat said, i'd have called the cops on them.

                Intentional drunk drivers are dirt.

"No free cab for you Sir, but call us when you leave the bar and we will have the Police waiting to give you a field sobriety test. Then they will drive you to the Graybar Hotel for the night."

If they were so set on killing themselves and / or other people, they should just jump out the window. Seriously. They'd save both and gas and booze, you'd save on the hassle. Win / win ?

I have two words for this dipshit; PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.

I'm sure he has a house full of kids whining that the world isn't fair and nothing in life is their fault.

I remember my Dad's response to me as a kid when I whined that the world's not fair; "And don't you ever forget that."
