...I was in your back room.
It is the nearing the end of my shift, 99% of all the work is done. I have two tasks left wash the floor (using hose and squeegee) and put out some pies and cookies I packed earlier.
I pull out the hose, soap and squeegee and go to work washing the floor. The hose is by the sinks at one end of the back room. We pull the hose to the other end and work our way back to the hose reel. Across from the entrance, against the back wall is a row of stainless steel work tables where I had the cookies and pies to be put out. The hose was stretched across the fornt of the tables.
I am at the far end of the back room washing that section, when I pull the hose a few more feet. All of a sudden i hear "Hey! Watch my kid!" I quickly turn around. I see daddy SC and his 3-5 yo. child standing in my back room. The child had been next to the hose when I pulled it and it hit his leg.
Me: *running over* Hey! *SC looks at me* get out of the back room!
SC: ...
Me: *next to SC* carefully step on to the white tiles, NOW!
SC: Ok. Fine. I will. I was just trying to get a cookie for my boy.
Me: Sir, You or you child could have been seriously injured in the back room. You do not know if a rack is hot or what is slippery or sharp or could fall on you or your child.
SC: But I was holding his hand.
Me: I don't care. You are not allowed don our back rooms, ever!
SC: But I didn't know it was a back room.
Me: The sign thats says "Employees only beyond this point" is *points to signs* and you see the back room has tiled walls, has stainless work surfaces, boxes, and pans stacked everywhere, while our custoemr area has nice display cases, and everything is labeled.
SC: but I saw the cookies in the back and assumed they were for my kid.
Me: The kids cookies are by the register.
SC: I already opened one in the back *yep he opened a package of cookies in the back* can I have one of those?
me: No!
The SC takes a cookie for his child and stomps off. I finish the floor and fill out a report on the jerk. Because of the jerk I never got the cookies out and had to toss the package he opened.
