  • If this is how Labor Day is beginning...

    ...I'm afraid of Monday.

It's the last weekend of the season for the waterpark and I'm getting a wonderful vibe that it's going to be a blast.

First, I had a guy ask me where he could file a complaint. I asked what his complaint was. He said that he wanted to let somebody know that they needed to get bigger rafts for the lazy river for "people who are fat." Said he'd fallen out several times already so wanted a bigger raft.

Then, got yelled at by a lady for having an attitude. We'd had to shut down the kiddie pool cuz one of the kiddies decided that it was a toilet. Lady came up with her kids during the middle of the shutdown, told them to head over to the bathroom and she'd catch up to them. They were going to cut across the pool while she headed around; I told them they couldn't enter the water.

So they run to mom and tell her that. Then we had this conversation which started with her at one end of the pool and me at the other:

Lady: Why can't my kids go in the water?!
    Me: Pool's closed, sorry.
Lady: Why? (Or so I thought.)
    Me: *shrugs apologetically*
Lady: *comes up to me finally* I don't work here so I have no idea why my kids can't get in the pool! Don't have an attitude and tell me why!
Me: *little confused* I told you the pool's closed...sorry.
    Lady: *storms off*

Then heard this from a co-worker:

A black lady asked him where the "black people" lifejackets were since the ones we had were "white people lifejackets and float better for white people."

End to racism? Not this generation! Equality? What's that?
Things just get so crazy living life gets hard to do. I would gladly hit the road, get up and go if I knew, that someday it would bring me back to you.

WTF!? What the hell did she mean by that? Goodness, people can be such idiots.
If you don't like my attitude, talk to the manager!!! Oh, wait, that would be me!!

Yes, I'm the manager. I'm also known as "the brick wall".

Actually,As a general rule The darker your skin, the more bone density you have. Therefore, you have less buoyancy. I see it all the time when I am teaching. Some little ones try so hard to float, but they can't. You tell then to push their belly up, and their arms, legs, and head sinks to the bottom. It is so very cute.

So it is possible that the lifejackets don't keep her up as well. What she can do about, probably nothing. But she could have asked a different way.

Wait wait, so there's a kernel of truthiness here? Wowzers!

            Racist SCs

That what really gets me, some of the most racist comments that I have heard have come from my fellow blacks (especially while shopping), yet I hear these same ones claim all their problems are caused by whites!

It seems no matter what type of SC you are talking about, it seems impossible for them to see themselves as others see them.

The dude was as big as the raft. It was kinda scary. But not nearly as scary as some of the women who are that big and ride around the river...*shudders*

I've got nothing against chubby ones.

I'd just like to have some bleach for my eyes once in a while. Bikinis do not belong on some people!

Weekend is continuing to shape up oh so well. Had a decent rotation...spent most of my day on slides, usually involved breaking people's hopes and dreams telling them they couldn't go down for X reason. Usually height related.

Then I got stuck at the campground position for two hours. *sigh*

This led to this gem as my supervisor finally let me close:

Guy: *comes up with kid* You're closing?
                      Supe: Yes.
Guy: But you close at 8! *it's 9 till.*
Supe: I just close when I get told to. We'll be open again tomorrow.
Guy: But you close at 8! You shouldn't be closing...*drags his kid off grumbling*

                        Me: Pool's closed, sorry.
Lady: Why? (Or so I thought.)

Are you shitting me? Or is this a real fact? If it is, I'm going to have to remember that, it's pretty interesting.

I would really like to see any studies you have on hand, or know of, to verify this. Reason being, I am as pale as a ghost and float like a cork due to body fat. And I have exceptional bone density (this has been measured).

My brother is almost as dark as the inside of a boot and as lean as I am padded, and he swims like a fish, no problem floating.

The Hubster, on the other hand, is pale as a ghost, has average bone density, and so little body fat that he can barely stay afloat with a lifejacket. Without a lifejacket, he sinks to the bottom if he stops moving.

Please post a link to whatever source you got this information from, I'm really very curious.
