Wow, this was truly unbelievable, and I am relaying this on behalf of a cw. We have what we call "seasonal" items, which are clearly marked with a red price tag (meaning "new item.") We cannot, due to policy, give any discounts on these items due to the fact that we purchase them ourselves. This woman comes up with a Halloween costume, part of our seasonal collection. She also comes up with a 50% off coupon. My cw informs her that we cannot allow the coupon. She asks why, and does not accept the reason. A manager was called, who told her the same, and yet still no dice. She wanted to go higher. It just so happened that our DM was there that day for a weekly inspection. He is called to the register, and explains to her our policy. And not surprisingly, she still does not accept it. She wants to go higher!!! So he gives her the number of the head of our company. She then leaves, saying how our policy is bullshit, how she will complain and she will return to let us know personally what became of it. As of now, all that I've heard is that our policy will be changed to allow discounts on seasonal items.
The kicker? The item she was arguing about was originally priced at $1.99. She was arguing and wasting everyone's time for a total of $1. I would utter the infamous phrase that we all hate, but I'd hate to have to dodge all the rotten pumpkins tossed at me.
