  • Overreact much?

This guy was an SC, but he made my night because I'm not used to his kind of suckyness. It seemed so unreal at the time, and was just entertaining in general.

I was working in electronics. Policy is all electronics must be bought in the electronics department. Yeah, we have empty CD cases, camera cases, and other stuff that aren't considered electronics. But I just make sure to have EVERYTHING in electronics rung up in electronics, to the best of my ability anyway.

And I know that most people are not going to steal, but it's a policy I have to enforce. LP watches electronics a lot. Wouldn't be good to have a lot of merchandise leaving.

Normally when I see someone start to leave with something I'll say "That needs tp be bought back here" or "Oh, are you ready to check out?" Then if they have more shopping to do, I offer to hold it at my register for them so they can come back and check out at once. Some people just check out and then do more shopping. Neither is a big deal, right? It was to this guy!

SC and his wife have two carts, the wife with two kids in her cart, and SC with one kid in his.

As they were leaving the department, I saw SC had a camera case in his cart. Something was telling me to not really bother chasing the guy down for it, so I let it slide.

The woman however had two DVDs. Yeah, they were $5 movies. But they are electronics in my department, so that's where they stay.

I politely said "Those need to be bought back here" and smiled. She seemed a little confused and handed them to me. I said "I can hold them back here for you" and smiled again. Usually this is not a problem.

She went and caught up to her husband who was in an aisle across from the department.

I heard the wife tell him that I said she had to buy the DVDs back there. I heard him reply in an annoyed tone, but I don't know what he said.

I proceeded to walk around for a minute when I saw him come back. I could tell right away that he was very angry(how dare I follow a policy).

He threw the camera case he had on the counter. I smiled real big at him and said "Thank you!!!" as he turned around. He replied "I'm cutting up <store credit card!!> Rawr rawr rawr!!" and he was gone.

I don't know what I did to offend him so much but boy was he angry!

It would seem the concept of a department store has come full circle.

I went to Zellers on my way home from work the other day to pick up a few things:

I bought a movie, which had to be paid for separately in the electronics department.
I bought some aspirin, which had to be paid for separately in the pharmacy department.
I picked up a sheet of bus tickets, which had to be paid for separately at the customer service desk, where I was told they would not ring up the rest of my purchases because I had 12 items and the limit is 8.

So I wound up going to the front of the store and waiting almost half an hour in a line of about 15 people, with a total of about 300+ items, where there was only 1 cashier working.

Now, I didn't freak out, or scream, or bitch, cause I'm not an SC. But I was very annoyed. The only reason I went out of my way to go to Zellers in the first place is because I didn't want to make 4 separate transactions.
