  • Why you shouldn't answer phone surveys at work...

    http://consumerist.com/2010/03/this-...s-at-work.html

Guy answered a phone survey at work, gave a few "yes" responses, the "survey" company doctored a recording to use the "yes" responses to make it sound as if he were agreeing to switch the company's phone services to another provider. They got the situation worked out but still fired the guy who did the survey.

I get several calls from these companies where I work and I ignore each and every one of them.

I've seen so many reps slamming (yes, that's what its called) people's home phone service when I worked in retail it wasn't funny.

Funny you mention scams. I work for a security company on a national account, and someone has been calling other offices that are part of the national account. The callers say they are with "<Security Company> auditing team" and are asking things like "How many officers do you have?" and "What time do you do your rounds?" yet can't answer any questions asked of them. I think at least one office has fallen for the scam so far.

Moral of the story--don't answer the phone at all at work.

I HATE those calls. I said yes, that's my address, not yes I want the service. Got scammed once and the owners received a huge bill for something I never authorized (but their tape will show I said yes). Now I just hang up.

I always say - you are correct, or I believe that is right. Anything to not say 'yes'.
But then I don't get those calls anywhere but at home. But hanging up works too, after they ignore me saying "WE'RE NOT INTERESTED".
Make a list of important things to do today.
At the top of your list, put 'eat chocolate'
Now, you'll get at least one thing done today
