  • And you thought your boss was sick?

    LINKY

Apparently on a busy day a PO got Mystery Shopped and got a bad score. So for their 'poopy' day their manager brought in something special. Something which should be a CakeWreck.

Though i'll admit that cake looks disgusting, i'll give the manager an E for effort. I would have eaten some of the cake honestly. Then again I am cuckoo for coco-puffs.

All parties involved except for the manager sound like assholes.

The Mystery Shopper for not taking the office's understaffed situation into account, and the employees for being offended at what sounds like an effort to cheer them up.

Me either. Especially if the cake (literally) looks like crap.

Yep. I would have laughed at it. The only people who take mystery shoppers seriously are corporate managers because they think everyone has the same experience (yet rarely have actually WORKED in the field).

That's not their job - their job is to rate the store when they get in there. If they give exceptions then they can lose their job for not doing their job.

Given the circumstances I'm sure every employee rolled their eyes at the mystery shop result. They already got that from the bad mystery shopper report. The manager was trying to make light of the situation.

Also, if the cake pictured is the cake that the manager made then she should be doing it professionally, not working in a postal office! I think she did a great job with the cake!

My thoughts exactly. Though this isn't a cake you'd see featured on the Food Network or TLC. I wonder if that's actual toilet paper or fondant(sp)?

So it's okay to insult my fellow carriers and coworkers? We may not be in the same office but they are still my coworkers who were treated badly.

No, its never okay to insult fellow coworkers. I just don't think the cake was meant to offend anyone. I personally would have used a cake with smilies or something funny yet encouraging, not poop, hence my earlier comment of "E for effort."

It was a tactless effort to cheer everyone up IMO.

OK guys, a lot of these comments go against our "failing to see the suck" rule we have here. When someone posts something, we may not always understand or agree with why they're upset, but we have to realize that we weren't there either. The purpose of this site is to give people a safe place to vent their frustrations, not to make them a target to be ripped apart by anyone who doesn't agree with them.

While I hated the retail jobs I had back in the day, I was lucky that the companies didn't use mystery shoppers. It's bad enough when the customers scream at us for things beyond our control, it has to be even worse when you get scored on them and can even lose a bonus, a promotion, or even your job because of them.
