  • computer game I can't remember

    but want to!
I remember playing a game a long time ago, like, 1996 at the earliest, not past 2006, and I can't remember the name. I thought it was Doom, or temple of doom or something, but I'm not so sure...
It was a computer game that didn't show any part of the first-person's body. You had to find your way out of an ancient Egyptian tomb. The graphics were cool, I remember thinking, and they were for the time. It was a puzzle game, and one of the puzzles was a wall where you had to remember music notes (basically) to adjust water flow... I can't really remember anything else except I couldn't get past that puzzle! It was like the fourth or sixth one in too.
    Any one have any guesses?

OH! I remember playing that one! I'll call Mom and see if she runs through what old games we have left if one sounds familiar. And for the record, Mom and I had to work together on that one. I never got to the ending but she had.

Myst was a big puzzle game but I don't think it was in an Egyptian tomb.

You're not talking about Heretic, are you?

It assuredly is not Myst-- I've played that, only a bit, before this game tho. Gah, Myst...
Pandora's box has the wrong look, Riddle of the sphinx is closer but the colors and graphics were more planar/'simpler' less '3-d, ooh tryin' too hard.' It was almost Paint in it's treatment of colors...
Heretic is too Castlevania in the graphics to be it.
Thanks so far-- we know what it isn't!
EDIT: ooh Mysterious Journey, I have that somewhere if I didn't frag it from frustration... oh, I can tell I get Int increases, sometimes...

I think I might be going too far back on these two, but is it possibly "Total Eclipse" or "Total Eclipse 2"?

Possibly "Mummy: Tomb of the Pharoh"?

Better/closer on the look, but is definitely a "load into your DOS and play" sort of a game, rather than online. This was way before I discovered the internet.

I think the game you are looking for might be called shivers... It was about your being trapped in a museum (that looked like a pyramid) and one of the puzzles was playing an organ with water in the pipes to open a door. I think got it around 95... still have it around here somewhere.

that should be a video of the water puzzle

That does look like a cool game. Sierra Online made some great games.

No, that's not it either. The set up was definitely a tomb, and while this game reminds me of SPQR (still completely awesome!), the water puzzle was on a 'sandstone' wall, and the 'water' bits were shaped like 'w's, but... Egyptian/ hieroglyphic symbols. I think I still want to check this game out anyway...
