  • Tantrum at the market

Just encountered this one a few minutes ago and figured it was worthy of a post.

I stopped by the market to get a couple things before getting snowed in for the weekend. This is one of the places that has a bank branch at the front of the store and have chairs and signs in front when they're open. As I approached the self-checkout lanes, I see this chair go flying by on the other side of the lanes by where the bank is. There was no yelling or screaming so I figured somebody tripped or ran into it. Since there's already employees up there, I think "no big deal" and ignore it.

I get up to the self checkout and there's another crash as one of the display signs goes flying along with another chair a few feet from me. Yes, I do mean flying as it bounced off the end of the checkout stand and went tumbling another 10 or so feet down the front of the store. Still no yelling, but it does get my attention!

This guy goes storming out the door, throwing or knocking over any signs/displays/whatever in his path. (Still, no yelling or screaming, just throwing things.) He hits the automatic door so hard it looks like it's about to fly off the hinges.

It's dead silent for a few seconds as all the employees (about half a dozen plus the bank workers) just stare at each other with a "WTF was that about?" look on their faces (just like everyone else in the store actually).

One of the employees heads out the door to get the guy's license plate while the others start picking things up. A couple of them shoot questioning looks at the bank tellers who respond back with a shrug.

Luckily it didn't look like anyone was hit by anything. No idea what it was about, but seriously, there's no excuse for a tantrum like that since he could have easily hurt people the way he was throwing things around.

It was just surreal how quiet it was the whole time other than the crashing of the signs and chairs.

I figured maybe he was deaf and therefore not verbal, but upset at the bank. But then, the bank employees don't know what happened either. I vote it's a segment for some kind of Candid Camera-type show.
