  • It's Pampering Time!

My tax returns should *hopefully* be deposited into my account sometime this week. I'm really hoping I can book something this week, not knowing how much longer we'll be on no overtime allowed, giving me plenty of freetime during the week.

I have already been flirting with the idea of getting my hair colored, but I've also been really considering going to a day spa. I just don't know what I want. I don't want to spend anymore than $50-$75. This would be seperate from the color job, because I specifically want to wait until the weather gets warmer and the enviornment around me is more spring-like (meaning grass and things coming back to life, so unfortunately, that probably won't be until....April, if ever!)

In that price range, I do have a few options, but I'm not really sure I can pick one.

I could get a regular massage, a deep tissue massage, a clay wrap, a detoxifying wrap (I had that done last year, no real results but was the most relaxing thing I'd experienced in a long time!), manicure/pedicure, waxing, basic facial, deep tissue facial, facial massage, acne facial......

What would you get? If you were me, what do you think would be the best value for your money?

Honestly? I'd get the regular massage, the mani/pedi and facial. I'm not fond of deep tissue (pain! so much pain!) and detox wraps only really work if you can do them regularly (as far as I'm told). Dunno if it's a good idea to get waxed anytime near a massage due to the oils and such like...but a massage, mani/pedi and facial sounds like a damn good time to me!

If you can get a hot stone massage, go for that. It's so much better than a regular massage.

Check out Groupon if you can. I'm in a major city area, and I have a groupon for a day spa. I MIGHT even upgrade/pay the difference for a massage, or a facial..I have a plan for what I paid for.

I'd say regular massage, mani/pedi, but no facial. I hear it just angers your complexion. But a back "facial" may be good as we're moving toward halter/tank top weather.

Oh Food Lady, you're so funny. I fear we'll still be wearing poofy jackets or, at the very least, fleece zip ups, for another couple of months. And forget sandals.

Once we start hitting 50 pretty consistently and the snow starts melting, I'll be in a fleece zip-up and sandals most every day.

Now if only this bruise on my toe would go away.

Rads is right - there is mucho pain with the deep tissue! When I had one, I didn't start to feel "unbruised" until after a week afterwards. Oi.

A nice, firm massage is good. Hot stones, I've heard is awesome, but I don't know. I get my massages done at Massage Envy. However, they will try to get you to sign up for their massages in a package deal, so if you're ready for that, I don't think you should go there. (Though if you do want those for a year, the place is wonderful).

No hot stone massages at this spa. You guys are probably right about deep tissue, I can't stand being massaged more than softly. I actually prefer to be tickled instead of massaged, I hate having my back rubbed, because most people are so darn rough.

I read that as "grass and thongs"

I would go for the detox wrap, and add a facial massage and body massage.

Last Feb I had a heated rock treatment, and a tropical oil hair thingy combined with a hot oil massage. I sort of oozed my way back to the stateroom but a few hours later after a shower everything felt wonderfully soft.

grass and thongs are better than snow and granny panties.

I decided to go with the pedi and facial, tomorrow is 2 for $25, you get to pick from about 5 different options, unfortunately, massages aren't on there.

Because of getting a pedi today, I decided to wear flip flops to the spa.

Yeah, walking on all the melting snow and all the slush snow piles.....bad idea.

And considering Thurs-Sat forecast (oh joy, ANOTHER SNOWY WEEKEND!), it looks like all my open toed shoes will be collecting dust for yet another month. At least.

Hang in there. We're still in the transition. Yesterday morning, I saw a junco in the back yard and a robin in the front.
