NY CSer's be prepared, 'case here comes Tropicsgoddess! I'll be moving to Southwest NY in May (lower cost of living and cheaper properties than South FL). I handed in my 2 weeks to my job (no worries, I got another job lined up for me) and now all I need to do is sell my car (I need something with 4WD or AWD for the snow since my micro machine the Civic only has front wheel drive), pack up and GTFO dodge!

Cool, I live near the New York border. I live maybe 21 miles from Jamestown, NY. (Lucille Ball's birthplace.)

Very cool...where exactly in Southwest NY? I live about 15 min outside of Albany. Lots of great stuff to do in that part of the state. Both Buffalo and Canada are reasonably close by. Getting a 4wd or AWD vehicle is smart (just remember 4WD/AWD does not mean 4 wheel stop)

Glad to have another CSer joining us in good old New York

I'm about 5 minutes outside of Albany and originally out of Buffalo. Welcome to ny!

New Yorker transplanted one state over here. There's a semi-decent chance the family and I will move to Ithaca once Hubby graduates (3 of his 5 post doc choices are in Ithaca), plus I spent all but three of my growing-up years 45 minutes west of Albany.

I got that covered (no pun intended) and good crocheted scarves made my yours truly for the 3 of us (me, SO and MIL).

Another Albany-ish area member here! Though I'm more Catskills/HV than Capital District...

                We should have a meetup...

                    ***UPDATE***

Saturday the 30th was my last day at my (now former ) job. My team threw me a surprise going away party. As of yesterday, I sold my car. I sold it to a friend/ex co-worker C who was in need of a car. She was ecstatic and I was happy with how it all went down. The price was fair on both sides and both sides were happy. Now onto cleaning, packing and GTFO dodge!

When I worked at the Italian Restaurant/Lounge, our main house band would perform this as their closing act (a lot of Italian New Yorkers that were 40+ crowd were our customers and they loved it!). This song is what I was referring to with my thread title. The Alicia Keys and Billy Joel versions each are awesome, especially live! Only a few more days till the big move!
