  • Massachusetts storms

Everyone who was in the path of the storms.. please check in to let us know you are ok. I don't know how many we have in Western Mass but you don't usually see a tornado every year.

Thanks for posting this; I was wondering, too.

Just bumping the thread up. If you're in New England, check in if you can. You're in my prayers.

I'm in eastern Massachusetts. Everything passed just south of me.

Southern CT seems to have missed it as far as I can tell, so we're still here. Of course, our city never seems to get the "severe weather" it's threatened with. Hubby's sad because he misses loud thunderstorms (east Texas boy).

I'm in western MA, it actually all happened east of me. Which is fine by me, I was only 300 ft from the F5 that came through my old store back in '95. That was enough for one lifetime.

Everything was just south of us (Metro Boston) as well. Got some exciting thunder/lightning storms but that's about it.

about 25 miles south of the border, but we lost the roof on the chicken house. Chickens were wet and irritated. Rob checked, eagles nest is still there, mama eagle sitting on something and papa seems pissed.

I live in central Massachusetts, and we definitely got hit.

My brother was out at Six Flags yesterday for a field trip so he witnessed the first storm firsthand. He's okay, if anything it's given him one heck of a story.

Myself, I drove home through two microbursts and witnessed a funnel cloud forming nearby when I pulled over due to hail. Some friends of mine living in the next town over also saw a funnel, but it didn't touch down. I got home safely, but sure didn't enjoy the trip.

So far I've heard there were 7 funnels, but only 1 or 2 of them actually touched down. 3 of those funnels were within a 20 mile radius of my house. How we escaped is a miracle. Rumor has it the one that hit Western MA was somewhere between EF 2-4. Mostly likely a 3.

Definitely two tornadoes. One in Springfield and the other cut a line in Wilbraham/Monson/Brimfield.

I'm fine.. all of my family are accounted for but Monson took a big hit. One of my cousin's lost his home. Completely destroyed.

                        Not me, but friends

Storm happened about 45 minutes away from me, but the two friends I have that live in the greater Springfield area are a-ok and have both checked in with me. Other than a shutter and a weathervane being ripped off the house of one, there's no damage to either house and they are back to work as normal.

I saw some photos of Monson (grampa is buried there and mom still knows people in that neck of the woods); it seemed to hit pretty close to the cemetery and I think the old church lost its steeple

I got nothing but dark skys and a few gusts of wind, but just few miles down the road several large towns have no power as of Friday PM due to damage to the transmission lines in the Monson area, no major damage, just some small twigs came down in said towns. A few more miles and areas are completely wiped out, or will be when the buildings are demolished.
