Threads that have been Scrubbed

So... I was reading the war stories, and a question popped into my head:
what happens to the responses of the original thread? Is the original thread still there? Is it now duplicated? Have the responses gone to the great electron pen in the sky?

When a story becomes a "War Story", we close the original and leave it where it is in its original forum, but we copy all of the original story into the WS forum.

That's why we don't always act right away when a story gets nominated. We don't like closing an active thread.

We only move the story to WS once it dies and we are sure that people have stopped responding.
