  • Sit Back and Enjoy the Stories.....

I am putting this here because I have several stories for a couple of different categories...I don't post too often but the last couple of weeks at work has left me so frustrated and angry with customers and coworkers alike. My boss is fantastic but I am about ready to really loose my temper with customers and coworkers. So on with the stories, I will start with some customer ones first....

Milk is Milk is Milk..get over it

I was working drive thru speaker and a man (he was no gentleman) ordered a milk, now as per my job I have to ask if they want White or Chocolate..here is the conversation I had.
    Me..
    DA (dumbass)
Me: Welcome to (my store) may I take your order please?
DA: orders food and "I would like a milk"
    Me: White or Chocolate?
DA: Well I have always known milk to be white! (in a very snarky manner)
Me: Well we have white and chocolate, I need to know which one you prefer.
DA: White of course! Chocolate is not white milk it is chocolate milk! (like duh!!)
Me: I have to ask to make sure you get what you want!
DA: Oh so you have to "dumb it down"(again, very snarky)
Me: Your total is $$$ at the first window!

OMG!!! I so wanted to slap that guy!! It took all my will power not to go to the window and tell him off.

That is just a bit illegal..nice try stupid

This happened Saturday night, again I was working drive thru and someone comes to the speaker and asks me if we take checks, I said yes, for the amount of purchase only and local checks. They proceed to order over $30.00 worth of food. Now at this time I should have been a little suspicious (spelled wrong) but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt and told them their total and to pull to the second window. So they get to the window and a guy hands me this check and I look at it..what do you think I discovered? It was a check that had been made out to someone else (in black ink) and they had taken a blue pen, scratched out the name and amounts and rewrote it to our store. I told them I could not take this and they reponded with "I thought that all you had to do was to initial it", I said "absolutely NOT, this is a two party check and we will not accept a check in this condition as it is pretty illegal to alter a check!!!" They did not try to argue, but that is because they knew they were in the wrong..stupid people!! Well at least we got to munch on some of the food!!

There were more stupid things, such as someone phoning in and saying they got the wrong order earlier in the day, which would not be too much of a problem except they were supposed to get an item that comes in its own distinctive bag and is a lot of food and they told me they got only half of that. I was thinking to myself that you have to be pretty dumb to realize you only got three tacos and one potato and not six tacos and two potatoes and to not notice right at that time!! Idiots!

Another incident happened one morning when I noticed this man picking up the change we dropped out the drive window and I told him that it belonged to the store and he just gave me this weird look, put it in his pocket and walked away!

Yesterday some drunk woman was panhandling and when my boss went out to tell her to leave the woman threatened my boss and we had to call the cops! Now on to the story that "broke the camel's back" and made me want to hit someone!!!!

You Stupid, Idiot, Asshole Coworker, I HATE you!!

Someone STOLE MONEY out of my purse!!! Oh my GOD!! I am livid! I know I had $13.00 in my purse when I got to work and I placed my purse on the shelf where everyone places their purses and belongings. This shelf is located in our "breakroom" which has three tables, one for us to eat at and two prep tables, shelving to place our drink cups and the "coat hanger shelf". During the course of the morning I placed two boxes on this shelf as I wanted to take them home with me so when I went on break I grabbed my cell phone and smokes out of my purse and decided to put my purse inside the boxes so I would not forget to take them with me. When I came back from my break, I went to put my smokes and cell phone back into my purse and my employee discount card fell out, I thought that was strange because I keep that card in the front velcoed section of my purse along with my money. I then noticed that my velcroed flap was up so I peered in and noticed my money was gone. I immediately went into the office and told my boss that someone stole money out of my purse. Then I noticed that the three ones I had were in the bottom of the boxes so I know they only took the ten dollar bill I had. I grabbed my purse and my boxes and placed them in the office. Luckily for me, they have cameras all over the store and my boss and our area manager looked up what happened. My boss would not mention names but she told me that my purse was not the only one that was rifled thru. She also would not tell me who stole it but told me they were working on getting my money back to me. I have a feeling I know who the culprit is..we have been training a new girl and she was in the breakroom when I put my purse in my boxes. I am positive it was her!!! What assholes!! I am the most gernerous person and if someone really needed money I would have loaned them some cash, but NO they had to steal it instead!

Well those are my stories! I am so darn glad I am going on vaycay next week!!

At least you had the benefit of cameras, and stand a chance of getting your money back. Most people aren't that lucky.

May the thief get to meet their new best friend, Mr. Policeman.

Sorry to hear about the purse, I hope they give you lockers in the future and I'd suggest leaving your purse somewhere else. I've worked places where everyone was close and professional, yet someone was a thief. It's sad, but you can't trust people nowadays. Glad they have cameras, though.

If they don't have somewhere you can lock away your belongings, keep them with you. If they complain, tell them they need to provide suitable facilities because you don't want to be robbed again - emphasis on that last word. This time it seems to have been a colleague, which sucks more, but if they don't even have breakroom lockers then what's the rest of the security like? Nothing to say it won't be a random SC or other lowlife strolling through your personal stuff, & they won't be happy with a mere $10.

Thank goodness for the cameras! It still sounds like you'd be better off with lockers, but at least this way you have a chance of getting your money back, and somebody has the chance of looking for another job ...

The supermarket that I worked at had no cameras anywhere, as far as I know, but they did have lockers in the employee break room. Not that that was much help because 98% of them were permanently locked. Don't know if the people lived in the store, or were long gone and nobody had bothered to remove their locks (and the contents), or what. Of the remaining two or three lockers, one was so badly damaged it couldn't be locked.

Last summer I worked at a They're Everywhere!! Canadian doughnut site in Niagara Falls and was told they have cameras all over the place, including the employee staff room (also the storage room, which is undoubtedly why the cameras are there!) The manager said despite the fact that everybody is told this, every summer she ends up firing at least one person for theft.

Sure enough ... one day X is there, next day X is gone. Issue is thefts from the communal tip jar, if memory serves. When they reviewed the tapes, one of the things they saw was that X had climbed up on the counter to turn the security camera away from the direction of the tip jar ...

Our store has an open type layout, such as you can see the back door from the front counter and customers can observe their food being prepared. The breakroom or break area is also part of our prep area and where the walkin cooler and freezer is located. Just one section is utilized for us to use to eat, drink or relax before work or after work or during breaks. There is not enough room for lockers and there is a sign warning employees that they are not responsible for lost or stolen items and for the employees to be careful on what they leave in the breakroom. I had no cause to distrust my fellow coworkers, I have worked there for 17 years and only two other times I have had something missing but that was way before we got cameras and before we had a "real breakroom". Normally I keep my purse in the office because I am usually supervising a shift and when you are supervising a shift you are allowed to leave your purse in the office. I plan to keep my money in my pocket from now on and I will leave my purse in the office from now on also! My boss won't get upset about that because she is really pissed about the whole situation. I am thankful that the cameras are there because I know they caught the culprit (I don't know the name yet but I will)!! According to the DM, she claimed to have taken the money earlier in the morning and was putting it back!! Yeah..try to blame it on someone else, how stupid are you when the money is GONE and no one else was near the purse!! Since the DM used the word "she", I know exactly who it was because the only person who seen me put my purse in the boxes that I was saving was the new girl, so who else would have known my purse was there!! Dumb Bitch!!
