  • Can't wait to tell work

Some of you who have got me on Facebook will know I started jury service on Monday.
Have sat in the jury room for 3 days straight and done absolutely nothing except be bored shitless, but today I was sworn in to be on a MURDER case which will last until at least 14th November and then have 2 weeks holiday booked, so as I said can't wait to tell work.

Wow! When I did jury duty I spent most of the day in the basement of the courthouse reading a book and watching movies. Went to my parents' house for lunch. In the afternoon I got called up with a group to go through selection for a trial; they hadn't gotten to my number when they finished picking the jury. So the rest of us went back to the basement and hung out for another couple hours, then at the end of the day the jury coordinator came down and said "I have good news and bad news. The bad news is you didn't get picked for a trial; the good news is you're done with your jury service." (They tell you it's for a week but they don't want to pay you for more than a day.) I ended up calling my manager and telling her she could put me back on the schedule for the week if she wanted.

My mom was on a burglary trial which was pretty straightforward and they found the guy guilty and it was only for a day.

Grand Jury is fun, but when I did it it was 2 days a week, for 3 months. I worked nights, so I ended up with a 3 day weekend...

I would not want to be on a murder trial.
