  • EVE Online?

Last night I got an irresistable itch to give this game another try. I've tried it a few times before, and never went past the free trial. I'm considering actually subscribing this time around.

I know there are a few on here who play. Any tips on how to get the most out of it? I'm not much of a PvP person, though I know it's gonna happen at some point, but I'm hoping to focus on mining or transport. Or possibly manufacturing. And I'm sure I'll have an alt, or extra training and ships, to handle fighting when it comes up.

I'm currently creating a Gallente Intaki and will play a bit of the intro missions before work.

There's a halfway adequate tutorial that doesn't cover everything properly. However, your best resource is the new player help channel. There's a good arc called the Bloodstained Stars by the sisters of Eve.

Message me ingame - use the Evemail system. I'm Shimmy Wiggle.

    I kid you not.

I'll message you at some point. Things have WAY changed since the last time I trial'ed this a year or two ago. I'm more than an icon/spaceship now! :P

Even the tutorial's changed. I'll get my sea (space?) legs and maybe I'll actually, y'know, PAY for the game this time. My husband thinks I'm insane, because he thinks it's so boring.

Also, my name is Shara en Dama.

Added you to contacts. Suggest going to eve mail settings and turning off the fee incurred by everyone who emails you. Top left next to 'eve mail' there's a button for options. Change the CSPA charge to 0.

Aye, they brought in Captain's Quarters a while back. Issue with it for me is that it currently adds little to the game barring a time lagging interface, rather than a nice fast pretty much GUI. Right now, you can't wander around the station, but that's planned.

I used to play quite a bit, but the game changed to much it wasn't worth it anymore. I should go back and sell the POS, freighter, and all the ships/equipment that all our characters have. Just make sure the lag isn't bad for when you play, that's what got us.

You can add me also, under the name Aruvqan [q as in queen, not g as in goose]

You do not have to PVP if you stay entirely in systems 0.5-1.0, just avoid certain things [never open anybody elses jettison can, if someone flips your can - opens your can, don't shoot at them because they can kill you. Don't mine an asteroid that someone is already mining. Don't be a jerk. Always double and triple check any contract, if you have questions, ask someone you trust to check the contract for you before accepting it. Stuff like that]
EVE Online: 99% of the time you sit around waiting for something to happen, but that 1% of action is what hooks people like crack, you don't get interviewed by the BBC for a WoW raid.

wraiths crono is me... and they have changed the new toon intro a lot since my first days heh.
Crono: sounds like the machine update became a clusterf*ck..
pedersen: No. A clusterf*ck involves at least one pleasurable thing (the orgasm at the end).

                ....Shimmy Wiggle....

                Gallente Intaki. Space hippies~

Not that I'm one to talk, seeing as I have one. But in my defence it was the least hideous race before Incarna. ;p

                  LOL GK! XD

I think mine looks pretty awesome. White choppy hair, shades, sultry stare. I mainly picked it because a quick Google said they were supposed to be one of the better mining races. Then I made it all the way through character creation and realized I wasn't asked once about attributes. So I guess it doesn't really matter anymore, except for how much training might be required to get into the ship you want?

I don't remember the race I enjoyed playing on my previous trials. I think it was Minmatar. Had the ships that looked like they were made out of solar panels and such. I like those ships.

It didn't really matter to begin with, as attributes just denoted how fast said training went. But they removed the Learning skills ( thank god ) a while ago and boosted all the attributes across the board to compensate. So you train faster overall out of the gate, without implants.

Yeah, I tried the trial again last night. Wow, what a difference. Its like its a totally different game. Last time I tried it, it was incredibly boring. I think I'll give it a bit more of a shot this time around.

Man, I hope they use that character creator for the WoD. Really really really good.

It's not really. Not trying to knock it, but its still a pretty dry game. Bit more window dressing now, but the fundementals are the same.

It's what you make of it.

Last week, the wormhole we claimed had a random exit into someone else's. We found their defences weak and we giggled like children as we scarpered with a fair chunk of their fleet. Full of fury, the owners returned in big warships, ready to hunt us down, but we'd scarpered back as soon as we saw them and celebrated the aftermath of the heist.

                          That was fun!

I can see me getting bored with the game eventually, but there are many facets of it I have yet to try. Bit like life, really.

Whew. That game requires alot more thinking and learning than any other MMO I've played in years. Its a much better game than it was even a year ago. At least I have an avatar now.

And that makes it probably one of the better MMOs out there. If you can get into it, of course.
