  • Hotel Robbed at gunpoint

I was working the Front Desk of the hotel I am consulting at, and a thug walked in at gunpoint and put the Desk Clerk and myself on the floor in the back room and threatened to kill us and stole all the money from the desk and safe, and even stole my cellphone. I hate NOLA sometimes.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm glad you're all right. When did this all happen?

        I'm glad you're OK.

And am hoping your company starts considering security for you - as well as compensation for your stolen phone as well.

Any chance there were security cameras that caught this? Glad you are okay!! Hope they catch the creep and put him away.

We were unharmed thankfully, and at this point the owner has no emergency button or camera system at all. He is going to set up "in the near future".

I can't believe how dismissive the owner is being. Does someone have to die before he takes armed robbery seriously? On another note, you seem to be handling this pretty well; I am glad you are OK and I hope you and your coworker are getting the emotional support you need. Feel free to rant or vent here if you have to...that's what this site is for

I've seen 16 camera DVR systems at BJs wholesale club for $400. There's just no excuse aymore.

Oh, not so fast, I hear ya, but we have a DVR and Camera system, and want me to tell you what that does to discourage shoplifting, that is right not a damn thing.

I am SERIOUSLY please to hear you are not harmed, things can be replaced, but nothing guts me more now or even before being in retail than hearing about some poor sclub, working a 9 to 5, getting their head blown off for 200$ or less.

I have unfortunatly been in the circumstance to have been robbed at gunpoint, they didn't take our cell phones, but they did take each and every one of our DL# and pretty much days after it happened, we got the same rap as everybody else gets similar yours.

But it was from that point on, my delusions about coporate stuctures, who is ultimatly concerned about the middle mans saftey changed. The fact of the matter is atleast where i work, the corporate entities don't seem to care about the kinds of lack of security, and inconsistant policys on behavior of customers foster.

Customers, who are lead to believe, that for every dime they spend, they are entitled to treat you like dirt, or you don't exist, especially when atleast where I work, many of the people are spending someone elses dime, and trust me, it sure isn't on what a person you would figure NEEDS.

The very least some of these people can do, who live in the communities of these stores we work in that very much need 10 packs of Kool-Aide for 1$, could maybe be more appreciative, and the people and management could appreciate not everybody that comes through the door is a customer or a good customer.
