  • Arrow--New show on CW

Anyone else watching this? If not, you should be. It's a Green Arrow series a la Smallville and so far I'm really loving it.

I've got the first episode recorded, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Honestly, I'm a bit concerned about it. Green Arrow is my favorite DC superhero (maybe my favorite superhero period), so I'm going to be super-critical of any treatment of the story....

I'm not as familiar with GA as other heroes (outside of Justice League and Young Justice--also great shows), but this is definitely not a straight adaptation. It's more of an amalgamation and a darker take on the character.

        I'm really enjoying this show.

I was just starting to get into the comic before DC did their big reboot and I pretty much stopped reading (not really related), so I don't have a good handle on his previous history.

I think they're doing a really good job of not making him out to be a Batman/Robin Hood mashup.

And it has Paul Blackthorne in it, which is a plus in my book.

Ok, just watched the pilot with Mrs. Crossbow, and so far, we both like it. I'm quite curious where they're going to go with respect to the comics, considering the number of hints/names they dropped. The action is good, and the trademark 'trick arrows' are done (at least so far) with style.
The acting and writing are a bit stiff, but it's the first episode. This isn't much of a surprise. I'm willing to give it a chance.

Besides, there's a rumor that we'll get an appearance by John Barrowman at some point. I know Mrs. Crossbow will stick around for that if nothing else.

He's apparently going to play some mysterious guy who isn't named at first. Internet rumors said it's really Bruce Wayne...
Why do they make Superglue but not Batglue?

That would be... interesting. All I was able to find out was he was a friend of the Queen family. The problem I'd have with him being Wayne is that now you're bringing in the A-listers from the DC family, and GA's going to be overshadowed. The producers have already said they're trying to avoid exactly that.

And I really enjoyed the second episode. So far, so good.

It starts over here on Monday, so I will be watching.

I have very fond memories of Batman & Green Arrow team-ups, with Bats and Ollie disagreeing very much on how to fight crime, with Ollie being somewhat more liberal in his outlook than Bats. And Catwoman and Black Canary getting annoyed at their respective partners.

Also Longbow Hunters and the Mike Grell stuff that followed was awesome.

He very purposefully Said Nothing when that was brought up on the Nerdist Podcast. He actually said "I'm saying nothing." It would be awesome.

I've only caught the first ep so far (surfing Hulu, shrugged, and watched), and honestly, found it rather enjoyable.

Uh oh. Now <spoiler> Ollie's in jail </spoiler>. Didn't think they'd be pulling that so soon. Also, bets on how long <spoiler> Walter <spoiler> is going to live now that he's <spoiler> found the Queen's Gambit </spoiler>?

This week's episode had Deadshot in it - one of my favourite DC characters. That was cool.

I continue to be impressed with the combat choreography. Really impressed.

So far, I am quite pleased with how they're doing the story. I look forward to Thursday night TV. (I watch on Hulu, so don't get it till the next day)

Possible spoiler alert, you have been warned. ((Highlight to read)) : What I don't get is why the police were so easily fooled. Nobody expects the 'vigilante' to have an accomplice? What?

It's not that they were fooled, but that their evidence was slim, at best, and with the fact that the sighting happened how it did, they had no justification for holding him any longer.

But don't think that the good detective is so easily put off the scent.
