Yesterday morning, I was seated at the front desk of the courthouse speaking with the clerk who currently is working as the "information officer". My back was to the door.
As we were speaking, I felt something rub the top of my head. On instinct, my hand snapped up and slapped whatever was rubbing me. I heard a young, female voice yelp as I turned to see what rubbed me.
A young woman was holding her hand and looking pained. She looked somewhat defensive and confused. She asked why I hit her. I asked her what she thought she was doing. She said she "just wanted to rub your head for luck".
I looked at her. She was young enough to be my daughter. Perhaps she thought that her cute appearance would make me want her to touch my head in some macho sense. She thought wrong. I am not the type who responds to any female attempting to use the "little girl" cutesy flirting - especially when the age difference makes the whole thing look creepy.
I asked her what made her think it was OK to rub my head without my permission. She said it was just little thing for luck and added that I should not get all upset by it.
I asked her what part of HER anatomy I could rub for luck. She and her friend looked a little freaked by that and scuttled off.
