This is an incident that happened yesterday morning, as I was starting my shift at work. For those who don't know me, I work as a casino dealer. Last night I was dealing blackjack.
I get to the table, and start dealing. Few minutes later, the supervisor D (a black lady, and yes it's relavant) comes over, and notices that this one black guy on the table looks like he is really young (which he did). The conversation went like this:
D: Excuse me sir, but can I please see your ID for a moment?
SC: No, you can't.
D: Sir, I need to see your ID.
SC: I showed it when I came in, you don't need to see it again. How do you think I got on the boat?
D: That's as may be, but I still need to see your ID.
SC: Here! *pulls out a FEMA ID, which is not valid as there's not a DOB on it*
D: That doesn't work, sir.
SC *rants about not needing to show his ID*
At this point, D goes over to the Pit Boss, and has Security called to come talk to the guy. Security arrives a few minutes later.
s: Sir, can I see your ID?
SC: I am not showing you my ID again, I already showed it to you!
S: Sir, I'm with Security, and you need to show me your ID.
SC: No, I don't.
And then the floor instructs me to color him up (exchange low value chips for high ones), and Security stands there while I do it, and they then escort him out of the casino.
And then, to top things off, guy starts complaining about how D was "harassing him" by asking for his ID. Um, she's doing her job, buddy. Is it REALLY that hard to take out a small rectangle of plastic for 10 seconds? No? Then shut up and pull it out, or get bounced. He chose the latter.
What IS it with people who refuse to show ID (or show something that doesn't qualify as ID) when asked to do so? I just don't get it...
