Question Can I talk Skyrim here? (PC Version)

Anyone noticing some stability problems with Skyrim the last few days?

It keeps locking up for me after fast travel or waiting (normally when Autosaving). I've tried unsubscribing all the mods even though they haven't been updated lately and it still happens.

When I force quit it I find Steam is downloading an update of some type in the games list but not in the downloads screen. Its only under 1MB but its always there.

I can't find anything by a general online search or from any of the mods pages that suggests anyone else is having problems too.

(System: Windows 7, laptop, lowest graphics and draw distance settings btw)

Many of the previous issues with fast travel stemmed from graphics glitches and 99.9% of the time would occur when traveling too or from a specific area or areas.

I haven't played since some of the more recent steam updates though so I can't speak to the specific issue you are having.

I did used to have an issue that would do the same thing whenever I would fast travel out of Whiterun or the Mages College or try to fast travel to those places. As far as i know the issue never went away for me, I just resolved it by fast traveling to a nearby place and walking.

I never had any problems with Whiterun and it seems to be where I'm primarily working out of, other than Riverwood. May I suggest, err...find a stable version and then do what you have to to block any further updates?

One other thing I remembered from looking up things about fast travel and locking up/crashing is that it usually stems from a video memory problem, being that you're playing on a laptop this could be the case. After that I really unfortunately don't have any specific advice

Here is a long thread over at the steam forums with the same issue as you are talking about, seems like you aren't the only one.

http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...php?p=29689462

First thing they suggest is backing up and deleting saves or try turning off auto saving on fast travel.

Thank you all. It seems to have gone away since the latest update... lets see.
