Having been on the "not working" side of Unemployment more than once ~_~ I can tell you that, in most (maybe all) states in the US, the major qualifiers for unemployment benefits are that the termination of your employment was not initiated by you/the worker, and that you were not canned for misbehavior/doing something against policy or the law. She's been calling about this for a year?? In that amount of time, she could have saved up at least part of what she owes. I get that unemployment doesn't pay a lot, but a year's a long time to spend trying to get out of a debt.When you start at zero, everything's progress.Comment

Going on for a year? Kind of late to use the "I got unemployment" logic. At least in my state, UI only pays for six months. So she's not getting it now, I'll bet.I will not be pushed, stamped, filed, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered. My life is my own. --#6Comment
