Remember this thread from a week or so back, about the cigarette escapade with the delivery guy possibly doing a face at the pile we would have to send back?

Well he did. He came in, took one look at the boxes and refused them. He said that he would only accept the ones that have either no stamp or a missing stamp or else the faintest traces of one.

So, guess who had to pick through ALL the cigarettes one by one and put them back? Me. Took me all night and it was the Thursday before Valentine's, too. So we had 35,678 things to do and 105,992 customers to ring out all at the same time.

In other words, the stamp is defaced enough for the pack to be illegal for the store to sell, but not defaced enough for the cigarette guy to take them back? So the store has to "eat" the cost of the unsaleable merchandise? If I were the store manager, the defaced stamps would happen to fall off before the cigarette guy's next visit, so he'd have to take them back.
