Ok so today a guest comes to my desk, about half-frantic that her cab isn't here yet. I offer to call the cab company and see what's going on, and then she comes out with this gem: "I had them call 10 MINUTES AGO!"
Ok, first, it's 7:30am. Granted it's a Sunday, so the roads shouldn't really be too busy, but response time for a taxi in Denver is 20 minutes if you're really lucky. Since she had an accent, I was going to just assume she is from a city where cabs arrive faster than they do here. Still a brain burp, but an understandable mistake for a newbie traveler.
Then she tells me "Please get them here, our flight leaves at 8:30!" Needle Scratch. What?! It's 7:30am. You had a cab called at 7:20am for an 8:30 flight. Out of an airport that's 45 minutes away (on a GOOD day). Lady, you're missing your flight no matter what at this point. There's a reason the airport / airlines tell you to arrive 2 hours early for a domestic flight and 3 hours early for an international. It's because there's a thing called "Security" you have to deal with.
So, kids, say it with me now: failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
