As to hand position, well, the Mythbusters took that on and I think showed that 10-2 is okay, depending on the positioning of the air bag. Just don't do the "Vulcan Death Grip" on the wheel, with your thumb resting on the area that covers the air bag. You WILL lose your thumbs. (Buster did.)
