    Amateur astronomers refer to this as Gaherty's Law -- the number of clear nights you'll have after you buy your telescope is inversely proportional to the aperture of the telescope. When there's been a streak of cloudy/snowy/rainy weather someone always asks 'Okay, who bought a new scope?'
