Catching up on some older threads and thought I could shine some light on this little question.

rqa: what is beyond gold?
me: *thinking, on the periodic table?* Is that a book?
rqa: no, in Christianity, there is beyond gold. What could that be?

"Beyond gold" isn't a thing; it's a measure of richness.

Psalms Chapter 18, Verses 10-11: The fear of the Lord is holy, enduring for all generations. The judgments of the Lord are true, justified in themselves: desirable beyond gold and many precious stones, and sweeter than honey and the honeycomb.

Once upon a time, before the days of ye Internet, libraries were literally general information desks, and a big part of librarianship was researching pretty much anything and everything. One former librarian co-worker once related that her favorite research project was when someone asked about finding a company that would put cremated ashes in an hourglass. (As it turns out, he had a terminal illness and a wicked sense of humor and wanted his own ashes put in the hourglass. The librarian found a place. And I've seen the hourglass. The librarian confirmed who it was when I asked. Pretty freaky.)

We get a lot of questions about "where in the bible does it say..." I think if was Thur when I got one of our regulars asking where in the bible does it say Satan is Lucifer, or Satan is the angel of light, or something like that. I think I read the bible more at work then at home.


What's pretty freaky in my library is we had a customer who called in a lot (and maybe visited in person a few times) who was in prison for a while because he killed his landlady with a butcher knife.

Though the hour glass full of cremains sounds cool.

I come from a region where you call people hun, dear, m'dear, love, etc in casual conversation. It's just the tone of the region. If I called someone hun and they asked me not to, I certainly wouldn't call them the Wicked Witch of the West. That's rude. It's like in their head they go "So she isn't my hun? Then she is a bitch! Done and Done, the world is sorted."

I do get annoyed when I call people m'dear, and they call me patronizing. I am not at all. It's just how I tawk. (talk written in the phonetic version of my accent for laughs)

Google would be faster and easier 99.99% of the time, these days, tho..

I definitely agree that google is a lot easier, but maybe these people don't have a comptuer or the internet. I get the feeling the pawn shop lady wouldn't.

It is a personally pet peeve though, when I ask someone a question I know they know the answer to and they tell me to google it. I'm not near a computer, just answer me. But this happens with acquaintances, I don't call up the library to ask.
