ditto what Broom said... working night shift I hear people's life stories all the time...as long as I'm not busy I don't mind... most of them are nice people who just need someone to talk to... I've heard some great stories and they get a burden off their chest... no one lose's (unless it's busy and I don't have time).

I only tell coworkers and people who randomly ask about my left arm...
Of course, I also have a tendency to respond to, "How are things?" with, "Long story or short?"
