I had a PC once that was so filled with dust that you couldn't see the boards, and it had gathered up so thick it held the power supply fan in place and burned it out, and when you fired up the system, it would try to start but would just bounce in place, making a clicking noise, almost like ticking.
The funny part is that it was a teller machine under the desk on a teller line. They heard that sound and thought it had been rigged with a bomb. Some common sense prevailed and they didn't call a bomb squad or anything, but they were keeping a very discreet distance from it while I worked on it.
