    MDF.
Yeah the stuff all cheap furniture is made out of and cabinetry workers make whatever they can out of to save on costs. Turns out my skin breaks out in hives on dust contact.
IANAD, but my guess is that you're having a reaction to formaldeyde. The glues used in particleboard of all types tend to be formaldehyde-based, and it's a known chemical irritant.

If you're looking into buying or renting a home, pay VERY close attention to its UFFI status (Urea Formaldehyde Foam Insulation - in Canada, it's mandatory disclosure if a home has it). Also, avoid manufactured housing - it tends to use a lot of particleboard.

        Foods I *cant* have:

Grapefruit - reacts with my blood pressure medication. Other citrus is fine.

Foods I shouldn't have (because of sensitvity, etc. Not because they're bad for me):

        alcohol
        high-acid citrus
garlic in large quantities - this one sucks
honey - not quite hives-level reaction, but I get intestinal cramps from it. I'm also deathly allergic to bees.

Apparently I can't eat Lean Cuisine pizzas anymore. I don't know what's in it to cause the reaction, but I have what feels like a massive panic attack about 20 minutes after eating one - racing pulse, sweating, nervousness, etc. I do not have a gluten sensitivity, so I think it must be a preservative. Nothing else makes me feel that way, and I'm certain I eat a lot of preservatives in all the other frozen prepared meals I eat during the week.

MSG can do that. Check the label. MSG is often disguised under other names. I found this posted on a forum. I don't know how accurate it is, but I have problems with MSG. I get muscle cramps from the top of my head down past my chest. They last for hours, depending on the dose I get. And then I'm exhausted and shaky.

"MSG, autolyzed anything, hydrolyzed anything and Yeast extract... to name a few of the many disguises MSG is wearing these days, is a neurotoxin. If that doesn't scare you, I don't know what will. It is also refered to as an excitotoxin because that's way of telling you what it does to the neurons in your brain. It excites them to .. death. You're killing brain cells every time you consume MSG in whatever costume it's in be it "yeast extract" or Hydrolyzed soy protein".
go to truthinlabeling.org There you will find a list of the many disguises that food manufacturers are putting MSG in."

Oh trust me my love, I am VERY paranoid about the formaldehyde now. And by golly I've always hated manufactured housing anyway. I.... I don't think I've ever lived in a building that was younger then 50, and apartment buildings I've lived in have been concrete form based. Even particle board furniture... as soon as it breaks, OUT IT GOES. Do not mess with and ESPECIALLY do NOT BURN. 100% prefer solid wood and allllmost have all of my furniture made of that now. Just the computer desk to go!

Kinda, yeah. I'm allergic to bee stings (as in "Epipen in 5 minutes or I'm dead"-level of allergic), and for some reason, honey gives me a reaction, but not the same histamine reaction from a sting.

Thanks to my crohn's, I can't eat the following foods:

nuts (although I can eat nut butter)
seeds and foods like strawberries where I can't avoid the seeds in them
                    shredded coconut
                    foods that are too spicy
                    foods that are too greasy
                    red onions
dark pop (although light pops are ok)
                    corn and popcorn
                    applesauce

And because I had to have my gallbladder taken out I can't have anything too fatty either.
My wife has crohn's, and she wasn't able to have any of those things, either...until her intestines burst, and they removed a good portion of them. Oddly enough, now she can have any and all kinds of food and drinks with absolutely no discomfort. Her gallbladder was removed, as well, but she has no issues with fatty foods.

I went to one of the old water mills oop norf and FINALLY managed to find some oat flour!! A big 1kg bag too. One of my colleagues, D, is gluten-intolerant and one of Housemate's, A, is one of those poor dears who is allergic to half the things under the sun, including gluten. A is coming to ours for Eurovision, so I can bake some stuff then, but when I told D happily about my purchase about awesome gluten-free flour he winced and told me he wasn't able to eat oats until his specialist cleared him when he sees him in May >.<

Woops XD Not going to stop me experimenting but I only have a kg. Oat flour's haaaard to find round here, and I'm reluctant to use the only non-wheat flour available in my local supermarket which is white rice flour because it goes all sticky.
"...Muhuh? *blink-blink* >_O *roll over* ZZZzzz......"

Oat flour is just very finely ground oatmeal. You can make it at home; just grind it in a food processor until the consistency of wheat flour. If you are making it for someone sensitive to gluten, make sure you use oatmeal that is certified gluten free and make sure your equipment has not been contaminated. You may want to invest in a separate food processor that you use just for gluten free cooking if you plan on doing a lot of gluten free cooking and have a food processor that has already been used for gluten containing foods. Alton Brown makes homemade oat flour for his oatmeal cookies here: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/a...er-recipe.html

I don't think they're actually allowed to sell the flour they mill, but I think they eat it anyway :S But their flour shop is huuuuuuge.

I noob >.< My bag says what it is, the amount, Caudwell's logo, and 'Ingredients: Flour from Oats'. Nothing special. Do oats have bad glutenny things in them; is that why D may have trouble? I thought of oats because I like them and I read...somewhere...a long time ago...that they were okay for this kind of thing...

Ah cool. Me and Bardmaiden have a interest in water mills. We lived Here for a couple of years many moons ago (*cough*85-87*cough*).

Had to laugh when my teacher announced we were going on a school trip and we could walk there. We did and I waved to my mum who was hanging out the washing much to my classes astonishment. I got to go on a school trip to my home.
