I will never piss off anyone that handles my mail or my food. Not to mention a federal employee

Heck now it makes sense why the mailman at one of my jobs used to get so happy to come deliver our mail on mondays(paycheck day)-we started a tradition of "hug the guy that brings our money"-I guess he probably had a bad route.

And even more off topic I saw what happened to someone who pissed off a postal worker for no good reason-he held their mail for a week then stuffed their mailbox so full she couldn't get anything out of it without totally destroying it. (The woman would call in and complain if her mail was 5 minutes later than she thought it should be, and she thought it should be there at 9:00 am sharp) My delivery people have always been friendly and kinda chatty-as have my mom's(her current carrier brings her butter so she can bake him cookies )-I guess being nice to people is "old fashioned" nowadays.
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes

you know, am I one of the few people who likes my mail carrier, for how much it must suck delivering in Salt Lake she does a good job. Especially when you consider there are *counts on fingers* 9 different ways you can right out my address and have it be considered valid... and there are some addresses that I can just see people screwing up on, it's not uncommon for there to be something like 250 west 500 south aren't uncommon (for the record, that address hapens to be a dennys with a rather nice waitress working the evening shift)... can't you just imagine people going SC because the switched the directions or the numbers on that?
So yes, greatest respect to the people who can deal with that day in and day out.

We are NOT part of City. Do NOT include 'City' on my mail.
That reminds me. There's this town or unincorporated area or whatever called "The Woodlands" and citizens there say, "If the "The" part isn't included in the address, then the address is wrong and it's sent back to the sender," making it sound like a point of honor that they have to have the "the" part.

It's not my math. It's SC math.

Okay, I skipped a step. There's also the 5% of the time when the mail is delivered perfectly by anyone's definition. Hence why it didn't show up here.

              Dilorenzo - Yea she's a professor too...how sad neh?

depechemodefan - Sorry to hear about your mail loss, have you left a note for your carrier? They may not be totally aware to what is happening.

wagegoth - Maybe, whats the weather like?

PCGameGuy - Not so much as trees as branches... See I deliver mail to a route where the average house price is 875,000 and it's around a lake. The same names is the kids of those who originally lived there and are now doctors and dentists. As for some of the names I have Wolf, Wulf, Wolfe, and even Woulfe (still pronounced Wolf).

              CrazedClerkthe2nd - Seen it....been there...done it...uniform allotment paid for the t-shirt.

Mamadrae - Techinally no...we are not allowed to have radios or anything else. And when the big wigs are around we don't but hey...what they don't know won't hurt them. But cause of stuff I've been 'requested' to get non headphone music. So I have cause my manager is nice. Thanks, I use to have a real cute one from when my beast was a puppy...I'll try to dig it out again.

VenomX - What she did...no but I wish there was.

MadonnaC - You in the UP? I know a mining town set up like that. What did you get for the %? I know in some states they very rarely look at any score less then 95.

ArcticChicken - See notes, let us know. Won't help if your route doesn't have a regular but if you do it's a world of help specially if we're a new regular. That and we have something we can thrust at the manager and go "FIX IT! the DPS machines are doing it wrong...FIX IT FIX IT FIX IT.

RetailWorkhorse - *glops horsie for his pats and pie* It's banana right? Or maybe a good key lime pie that is green and not the white stuff someone tried feeding me?

Stormraven - Most often it is because someone new is on the route or because we're have a really long week....either that or the machines hate us. I got a pack of about twenty letters today that we're even for my state but there they were mixed in with the City of *names*'s mail.

Aramika - Yay cookies...yum. I had a lady here who knew my birthday but she moved to some senior apartments. Meh...always left me salt water taffy.

One-Fang - I moved from 423 to 523 and was on the same street. Had a heck of a time convincing people I knew where I lived... As for the city name being replaced yea have that problem here too...usually we can get it to the right place still but sometimes it's someone who just won't take the time to cross out the incorrect city name and put the correct one. That is managements doing because we can get into trouble for that 'time wasting practice."

BlaqueKatt - *giggles* I also love delivering paychecks to businesses where we normally have to get out and take the mail in. We're usually met by the truck by more then one guy looking to grab the big envelope. And yea...I've heard that story and a few...variations of it. *shifty eyes*

smileyeagle1021 - We have one route where there is a N, S, W, E Deadwood....some of the numbers are the same and no one seems to know which of the four they live on. I so feel sorry for that carrier sometimes. But then he rocks and gives attitude right back to a few of his SC's.

I'm sorry, dear, I adore you in my court and all but I'm ready to kill my USPS building/asswipe in charge. I paid for a new lock for my mail box (only to be changed by the post office, I was told, because I accidently lost my key) nearly a month ago and no one has come in to replace the lock for me. They said I con't do it myself, one of TWO PEOPLE have to do it. I called them today and they said the poeple I need to speak to are in a meeting. Okay, I'll call back.

I call back and get told that my address wasn't even on the stupid list! I was nice about it though. I didn't even bother bitching when they put me on hold THREE TIMES for an upwards of 10 minutes each. Hello, using a cell phone here! But I was sugery-sweet-niceness-and-puppies because I didn't want to piss off the powers that be and wind up never getting access to my mail again! I haven't checked my mail in over a month! I'm ready to file a massively formal complaint here. But what good will it do?

*sighs and makes hot chocolate for everyone*

And, uh... real Key Lime pie isn't green. It's an off white with a slight green tint. I made it from scratch twice so yeah... I know.

I deal with overly rich, sometimes stupid smart people. The worst kinds of SC's out there. And yet I also have some of the nicest people out there. Like the nurse who took a tick off of me from behind my ear. Or the doctor who wrapped my fingers last year when the skin broke from the cold. Or even the three houses who got together to buy me my first ever mp3 player to replace my dying walkman.

But your highmess there is a complaint form you can fill it for the replacement of your lock that wasn't done. And the reason why you can't do it yourself is that it has to be taken out from the back and you need a arrowlock key in order to get there. And we have to be signed out for those.

Next time you get a chance to call ask to speak to the postmaster, inform them of when you paid for your new lock and that you still haven't recieved your new lock/key set. It could have been that your lock was changed but that the key was given to the building manager which is why your address wouldn't be on the list anymore. Also you should talk to your carrier or at least the carrier's supervisor so that they know why you haven't been picking up for mail. Don't want anything to get sent back on accident.

The pie I always had was green...well meh now I feel jipped cause I didn't take the piece of pie. Ah well live and learn.

We don't have a building manager. I did get told that if the lock wasn't put in today, then it would be installed tomorrow. We'll find out soon enough, huh? I also had a package get sent back to the station because no one was there this past Monday (which was true... it was my only day off so the BF and I went off on errands. I never knew my package had come in because someone didn't leave a notice saying it had come in).

And have another slice of pie, it's okay.

The average fucktard in the US doesn't understand what a great deal the USPS is. In fact, paying taxes has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MAIL. The USPS pays INTO the general fund, not the other way around.

For fuck's sake, the USPS should print a little brochure that carriers can hand out to these willfully ignorant pukes when they go on about a little increase in price or, gasp, the mail took an extra day.

The USPS picks up from EVERY ADDRESS and delivers to EVERY ADDRESS. It handles in a week what FedEx does in a year. The scale is staggering. And, the error rate is TINY.

I used to tip my carrier $100 each Christmas.

I'm going to try and keep this in non-fratching area, so I hope my comments will be taken as such. I also have nothing but respect for the good and decent carriers I've had over the years. The one that caused my bills and magazines to be lost repeatedly can die from a thousand papercuts.

I don't buy the great deal arguement. I'd be more willing to discuss it if the USPS wasn't a federally protected monopoly. No one else is allowed by law to carry first class mail. I have grave concerns about any industry that has a true monopoly being at the top of their game. I would, however, be willing to let them 'fire' customers if there were other alternatives. USPS isn't allowed to do that, which is the only reason why they deliver to places that package carries won't. If they didn't have to, they wouldn't either. Open up the free market, and then we can talk about who does the best job.

Aethian, you admit you had problems before, but you are taking steps to fix that. I respect that (having made my own fair share of mistakes), and it sucks that the SC in the story didn't notice. Keep up the good work, and try not to let the SCs get you down. Share the stories here instead, and let us pillory them for you.

I think you need a vacation....I honestly think that most of the people who are on your route totally respect you and the job you do. It is only a few a-holes who pump themselves up by making others feel bad that are tearing you down.

I totally respect my mail carrier...I have a new one...honestly I was a little upset when our last one left....she had been delivering our mail for years. The new guy seems ok. If he sees me on my porch when he comes up, he always hand delivers. I don't expect it, but it is great customer service.
