We must have been lucky- We later learned that up in our Seattle Greyhound station, a huge, station-clearing brawl broke out between the local homless types and a bunch of bus-going college asshats.
When does a fight not break out at that station? I once had to overnight there between connections - the security asked me to wait it out in their breakroom to make their lives easier. The cops were called no less than three times to come break up fights that night.

I've had to bust up fights at the theatre - not totally unusual to have a fight at a concert - but a symphony concert?! Still don't know what started that one.

There are probably a lot of fights in the library, but mostly it involve the homeless people.

Recent fight. The crazy homeless person was harrassing a co-worker. I think he was asking the librarian for something we don't have, like a book, and when the librarian was telling him we didn't have it he said "bullshit," like he was joking. Anyway, he wanders off and next thing that librarian and other librarians in a close room noticed was he and this couple (who were homeless) were fighting. The crazy dude upset the gf, and so the guys started fighting. Security was called so the 3 left, but cops were called and the crazy guy was still on our property. They talked to him, but I don't know if they hauled him away or not. Yesterday the woman was around so they called the cops, I guess just to talk to her, maybe to tell her she wasn't welcome here anymore.
Time! Time! Time is what turns kittens into cats.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.

I'm surprised the admins here are allowing the use of a homophobic slur. "Bulldyke" is an insulting term and is as bad as "faggot".
Well I guess no one hit the "report" button, so they probably figures no one took offense.

It is a term they use themselves as a sub-sub culture.

Stop being so PC. If I was talking about gay men and used the terms "Bear": and "Twink" no one would be whining.

Yes, and black people use the n-word to describe each other sometimes, too. That doesn't mean if you walk around using that word, nobody will be offended. I'm going to go ahead and use the report button to notify the mods of this thread. My personal feelings on that term are fairly neutral, but in this context I think it was not very appropriate to use it, because it was used to describe her in a negative way. "Some drunken bull dyke," could have been replaced with, "Some drunk woman with her girlfriend," or "A drunk SC with her girlfriend," without taking away from the story at all. Her sexual orientation and drunkenness is relevant to the story, but your opinion of her body type isn't.

Gatekeeper has it right. If you don't report it, we don't know. We can't tell every time someone finds a term offensive. I did a quick search around the internet, and pretty much every source says "offensive to some." So we can't know unless we're told.

You have a point, but also, don't lecture people. Reporting is what we consider to be the duty of members, but we don't need boasting. Talking about reporting it though turns it from duty to hammer, and that's not what reporting is about.

Also, note to all: which words are offensive by users not of that group is a topic for Fratching.
