  • When we close... we CLOSE!

Ok, we close at either midnight or 1am, depending on the day...

and when I say we CLOSE at that time... I mean it... WE CLOSE.

NOTE: Wednesday night you can buy individual games, since we have a special deal (25 cent games)... this allows people to take their time, and sometimes they go past 1am.
I have seen my manager turn the lanes OFF on people, on Wednesday nights.

We are NOT like a restaurant, you cannot bring 10 people in 10 minutes before close, and expect to bowl... we are not staying late just because of you.

We have a cut-off time, it's 15minutes before close. So if we close at midnight, there is NO more bowling after 11:45. This gives us time to sort things out for the night, and gives us a little fudge room for the customers that are there.

    It's actually kinda nice...

but people still don't understand this concept.
    They come in at 11:30

SC: "One hour and 2 shoes."
Me: "We close at midnight, so the most I can charge you for is 8 minutes, that'll allow you to go until 11:45."
They get a free 7 minutes by default, it's how the system is set up.
    SC: "Why?"
Me: "We close at 12, and 11:45 is the cutoff time."
SC: "Is it still the same price as the hour?"
Did I not just say I'd charge you for 8 minutes..
Me: "No, it'd only be like $4, I won't even charge you for the shoes."
SC: "So we can only go 8 minutes?"
Me: "You get an extra 7 minutes, so right now you can go for 14 minutes."
A minute passed by this time.
SC: "Oh well, that's not worth it..." *walks away*

Of course it's not worth it to come into a place right before they close...

Or we get the people who get angry with us.

We used to be a different company, and the place was open 24 hours. However, it came under new management and now CLOSES.

SC: (raised voice) "Since when do you close!?"
Me: "Since about 5 years ago."
    SC: "Oh....."

I think the question we need to ask ourselves is:

"Who the hell goes bowling at 11:30 at night?????"

My friends and I used to go bowling at a place out in Lansing where they teamed up with a local radio station for "Rock and Bowl" that went until late - drinking and bowling instead of hitting bars.

There's a place near me that does something like that on Friday nights...open way late for drinking, bowling, what have you. Kinda like clubbing, with no bouncers.

On weekends some of the local bowling alleys are open to 2 or 3 AM. They have DJ's etc to make it more than just regular bowling.

              B) some physical excersion is good to burn some calories
              C) and my local one does rock and bowl too after 10pm and puts up their bumpers (sound different than your cause they are cool)

My sister and her friends used to bowl on a midnight league that went until about 2-3 a.m., after they got off work. She said it was a great way to blow off steam and unwind after a long evening at work. They'd usually come by the store and see if I was working graveyard shift so they could pester me before or after bowling.

Well, all that is just crazy, crazy I says!!!!

That just throws me because my city rolls up the side walks at around 7pm. They are trying to change that, lots of new restaurants on the main drag that have 'regular' restuarant hours, open until 11 or so, but old habits die hard!

                    There's pool too

Lots of people do it. I used to go on Saturday nights and do all the bowling I could for $10, which included the shoes. Those were great days, before marriage and kids.

To answer both, I would if I could.

                        But I can't.
