Woo, bonus points for old-school gaming reference!
Anyway, just a quick quip about tonight's wonderful activities. One of our elevators (of 2 total elevators) started acting up...on Friday. Before I left, they had me stay over a few minutes and help manually reset it (since I'm a bit more technical than the other people on shift at the time), but after I left it started acting up again. It's not getting stuck (thankfully), but it freezes on the first floor and continually opens and closes the door...while emitting an annoying beep. Oh, sorry, did I say beep? I meant a nonstop buzzing sound that is audible anywhere on the 1st floor, and on any guest floor near the elevator bays in the whole hotel.
Naturally, they posted an "Out of Order" sign on it. Done, right? Not really, since the elevator keeps randomly resetting itself and going back into service, only to have problems again a couple hours later. That means that, randomly, people try to call the elevator and the out of order car (clearly marked) opens up for them.
I've been in for 30 minutes and have gotten 5 complaints. Why? Because the elevator company won't send someone out for repairs until Monday since no one is stuck in there right now.
Bit of MiM here though: they could have had the elevator guys talk them through completely shutting off that car for the weekend, thus no buzzing noise, or random operation of the Out of Order car. Did they? Of course not...
To quote Deadpool, SHHH, my Common Sense is tingling!
Edit: Sigh...not 2 minutes after I hit submit, it started making the buzzing again and screwing up, only to stop just as someone decided to ride up, thus making another person complain that it was doing that. I tried to smooth things over by reassuring them that it's not getting stuck, so much as it is forgetting to close the door on the first floor, but still. This is gonna be a long night...
