We have a giant peony plant in our yard (I take no credit, it was there when we bought the house) and they are virbant pink. The flowers get to be the size of a newborn's head and are so heavy they hang to the ground, so I cut off as many as I can to out in vases.
Something about peonies makes me think of an aging whore who was once the talk of the town but is now older and shunned...a sort of tattered dignity.
We have three peony bushes in our yard (came with the house), one white, one dark pink and one lighter pink. They're just coming into bloom (a little early this year) and they smell heavenly! We have to shake the ants off if we cut any though. Ants love them!
