I remember they x-rayed me when deciding whether to take my tonsils & adenoids out, saw how enlarged they were, and said let's do it. I was fine, considering it was my first (and only thus far in my 30 years) surgery. The kid on the opposite end of the room from me? Oh he cried and "got sick" when mommy was around, but the minute she left he was perfectly fine. My mom got sick of hearing him, really! When I went home, I remember my mom making me buttered macaroni--slid right down my throat, no problem. Also, I had ice cream, and other frozen things. I don't remember having nausea though. Glad your daughter is feeling better!
