I've been working with a network engineer for years now. Whenever I have a network problem I may send her an IM (or someone else on her team). She's great, she knows her stuff, and has a quirky sense of humor.
I was setting up a router and two switches in my office for her to program and like before, she warned me not to plug it into our network since it can have some catastrophic consequences.
I told her I'd get back to her in about 15 minutes while I set it all up. She's remoted into a PC I have in my office so she can use Hyperterminal to program them.
I got it all hooked up and then the little appeared. I send her an IM - "OK, it's all hooked up just let me get it on the network".
Just as she types NO in chat I sign out of our communicator and unplug the computer she was in (yeah, I know, not recommended but what's the worse that would happen? Besides, it was worth it.
(For those of you non-technical people, I made it look like my office had just gone offline).
She called me a few seconds later and I didn't answer. I gave it a few more seconds and then I logged into our office communicator and sent her a "got ya!" message.
She wasn't happy but laughed at it. I only wonder what her retaliation will be.
