Generally, if someone asks for a credit card application, I tell them no. If they push it, I leave. I do have to say though... my husband has a Best Buy credit card and it's been wonderful for us. Very useful and it racks up points too so that eventually it will pay for something that you buy.Comment

The last store card we applied for (let alone use) was Orange Apron when we were shopping for a new stove--we maxed it out on the spot. The discount covered the sales tax and no interest for a year (we paid the full amount with our next tax refund
).
