  • What the f- YOU CAN'T DO THAT!

I ment to put this up sooner, but I forgot about it.

Last Friday I was straightening up the fish case and this guy comes up to me and asks me to help him get someone for the meat department, I notice he's holding a package of chicken that looks like it was slashed and ripped open and I knew he needed a new one. I told him since that one was open I'd help him find another one, he then proceeds to tell me that he went into the meat prep room got a knife, opened the package and wanted to cut up the chicken. I was so shocked that he would tell me that I didn't know what to say, he told me since he couldn't find the switch to turn on the cutter machine he picked up the knife he used before and tried to cut it that way but gave up after it wasn't working. At that time I went up to the customer service counter with the guy and Jean from the meat department was just coming back from lunch, I asked her to help me and told her that there was this guy with a package of chicken and he just cut me off from talking. He sounded really annoyed as he handed her the chicken and he told her what he did and she got pissed off, she told him there was nothing she could do except wrap it back up for him. As the 3 of us were walking back to the meat department he asked her if he could have some sort of discount since it was damaged and she told him no since he was the one that damaged it, he wanted to speak to a manager so she called over Charlie to deal with that asshat. Unfortunately I didn't get to stick around to see and hear what happened because I saw that I had a lady waiting at my fish counter, but I hope he got his ass handed to him. I seriously do hope he was banned or told not to come back he acted like a total dipshit, and had the nerve to ask for a discount for something he damaged. Friggin asshole.

I just... I need a moment to process that, once my brain finishes rebooting after the amazing blue screen that caused. Wow. I mean, what was the guy aiming for? Did he do that deliberately, thinking he'd get a discount anyway? He had to be out of his mind or something. Who does that? Just...who? Why?

Any self-respecting shop would have trespassed him so that he could no longer patron that store, an untrained customer entering into a work area with specialised equipment is a health and safety hazard, not to mention a disaster waiting to happen.

I'm more than willing to bet that if he had managed to turn on the cutting machine and cut his own hand off in the process, he would have tried to sue the shop as well -_-

Heck, if he had nicked himself while playing Jack the Ripper on the package of chicken with the Store's knife, he'd have at least threatened to sue.

Personally, I'd have had him wait at the CS desk while the package was re-wrapped. Then, when I returned to the desk, I would inform him that he MUST pay for this right now. If he refuses and/or throws a temper tantrum, then he is booted immediately and banned permanently. Or, once he has paid for the product, he is then booted immediately and banned permanently.

Ah come on guys. Doesn't everyone do this all the time? I know that if I need to rotate my tires, I just pull into an open bay at the mechanics and help myself to the lift and tools. Or if my hair's a little scraggly, I pop into the salon and grab the scissors.

This is a pretty serious WTF. Just when you think you've heard/seen it all. Just. Crazy.

You don't just barge into a place of business and use their equipment to do what you want.

Hell, you can't even work at a place of business and use the equipment to do what you want, like my ex-CW at the wholesale club, Dumbass. Dumbass worked in the tire bay, and one day brought his uncle's car in to take apart the exhaust system using the tire bay's tools. Despite his assurances to his fellow tire bay CWs that "it's cool," they thought otherwise, reported him to the SM, who fired Dumbass on the spot.

He was "talked to" by management and told not to come back, and if me or Jean see him in the store to call management immediately.

Good. Jackass had no business being back there and he knew it. I hope he gets arrested for trespass if he ever comes back.

I'm sure many businesses get SCs that think they can use the store's equipment. I know we've had many people try to borrow our scissors and cut the fabric themselves. Um, gee, let me think about th--no. Just NO. As in NO FG WAY. And yes, we've found fabric bolts with missing pieces, chunks of fabric taken right out of the middle.

Store employees are trained in how to handle sharp pointy things, expensive tools, forklifts, shovels and rakes and implements of destruction. Customers are not. Store employees are covered by store insurance if they are injured while using the store tools. Customers are not. So stay the hell out of our workspace and keep your booger-picking fingers off of our tools, idiot customers!

Just If I were the store manager, I wouldn't want that idiot back in my store out of fear he'd hurt himself and sue or hurt someone else and I'd be sued by them.

Next time I go to the big club-type store, I'll just borrow a fork lift and get what I need off the top shelf. I mean, how hard could that be and it really isn't that dangerous.
