At work we have to check each vehicle at the start of every shift.
One of our vehicles is based on a Nissan Patrol, a vehicle not renowned for the space it has inside.
Part of our daily check is to check the oil levels, so there I was checking the oil. I removed the dipstick, wiped it then popped it back in. On the way I managed to short the live terminal of the battery into the engine via the dipstick. Whoever designed the dipstick to be that close to the battery needs to be shot, scared the crap out of me.
I don't know if I was just lucky or of the immobilisation switch we have (which disconnects all electronics in the car to prevent battery drain) had anything to do with it but the vehicle started first time when I turned it over.
I'm now a lot more careful when it comes to checking it!
