  • WRong parent!

So we have this kindergarten kid at my service, I'll call him Andrew. (All names have been changed)

Now, on one particular night he was getting picked up late by his mum (sometimes its mum, other times its a grandparent) and another parent walked into the foyer.
Andrew proceeded to yell out, clear as a bell so that we could all hear it "HI LIA'S MUM!"

The parent then walked into the room and we burst out laughing. Why?
Because not only was it NOT Lia's mum, but it was actually the FATHER of two of our other children!
We apologised profusely but at least he took it in good humour!

I mentioned it to Andrew today and his response was: "I forgot what they look like." (the school has around 90 kids, we get 1/3 of them in our service on any given day, he's one of our 5-day kidlets)

Kids can be funny. Yesterday at work this adorable little boy (maybe... 5-6? I'm not good with ages!) was talking to another lady who was older. She had a deep voice for a woman, and short hair.
Boy: Are you a boy or a girl?
    Woman: I'm a lady
    Boy: What's that?
Woman: That's what girls become when they grow up.
Boy: Oh. I thought they were big girls.

    It was cute.

Clearly the father took that as an sign, as he now has a much shorter haircut

Little kids, they're still learning how society works. Fortunately, most people realize this and are quick to forgive their missteps.

When I read the title of this thread, I was reminded of what Tonto said "kemo sabe" meant in the recent Lone Ranger Movie.

            It got better today.

I wound up accidentally referring to the kids mother as the "kid" herself.

I prefer Cos's. He once pointed out that Tonto and the Lone Ranger were constantly and good-naturedly insulting each other in Spanish.

Yes, that's the one. Loved the train scenes.

Why? There's nothing to apologize for.

Yes, those were amazing. Especially considering you can't see Monument Valley from Shiprock...
