Breakfast a couple of weeks ago was interrupted by squeal,smash,thud... yep another of the all-too-familiar shunts at our crossroads.Driver A hadn't seen Driver B,turned in front...and we have a car on its side as a new feature of the garden wall. Everyone was unhurt and all got out to deal with the aftermath. As we're a main road, police turned up to deal with getting everyone past safely and towtruck arrives to cart off cars. As he had to reverse across the junction to turn, policeman in large hi viz jacket stands in the middle of the road to stop the traffic.. and soon almost gets flattened as a car goes whizzing past him and hits a car that is stopped and waiting
The driver who was rather old and quavery 'hadn't seen the constable'.Which might have had something to do with the fact he wasn't wearing his glasses,as the policeman pointed out to him.
Driver wanted to know How did said policeman knew he wore glasses?
They were perched on the dashboard next to the steering wheel.
Could he actually see to drive? He wasn't sure, but would give it a try.And was asked to go round the corner so he could be dealt with so he didn't block the main road. And so he climbed in and went to turn...and shot in reverse up the hill. That was the end of his driving adventure....
