Manager's pet project

I work as a porter for a parking company. I am responsible for cleaning two underground parking garages as well as a surface lot that is located above one of the underground parking garages.

The surface lot has 69 parking spaces. Earlier this week a VIP club that serves lunch and dinner moved into the building that is located next to the surface lot.

The manager over the two parking garages and the surface lot that I clean signed a contract with a valet company to provide valet parking for the VIP members who have a membership to the VIP club. He also works for my employer. He is also over 2 more parking garages.

So almost half of the surface lot that I am responsible for cleaning was converted to valet parking spots.

For the dinner VIP guests the underground parking garage will be used.

Today was the grand opening of the VIP club.

He wanted everything to be perfect.

I had to make sure that the surface lot was clean as well as the entrance to the building where the VIP club is located. That meant mopping the concrete entrance to the building.

I was told that he will be present during the grand opening of the valet section as well as his direct supervisor.

I was also told not to bother him or his direct supervisor. I was not allowed to speak to either him or to his direct supervisor.

All of the valet parking spots were used.

For the my immediate manager as well as his manager... yes.

Why?

One word... profit

For me... no

Why?

Because now that particular garage is now top dog.

So according to my immediate manager as well as his manager I must keep that garage spotless for the clients *the property owner and the VIP club management*.
