so this year im living in an on campus apartment with two foreign students. 1 from Brazil 1 from New Zealand.
i don't see my Brazilian roomie much as she has a group of Brazilian friends who spend all their time in with her in her room.

yesterday she shucked a ear of corn and needed my reassurance it was edible when the kernels where more white than yellow.
I mentioned halloween candy was starting to show up and i got asked two questions.
when is halloween?
is it big deal?
my response last day in October and yes it is a big deal. then i offhandedly said then we will have the build up to thanksgiving.
She looked surprised and asked me when thanksgiving was.
I explained it was the 4th thursday in November and that she probably would want to plan on staying in the next day unless she wants to explore the horrors of black friday. her expression on the explanation of black friday was amusing.
