So I'm working on teaching myself how to reborn dolls; my husband thinks that it would be a great source of revenue for our household. My question is for anyone who might know; I'm currently looking for a heat gun, in order to set the Genesis paints I got. The problem is, a lot of them that I've seen on EBay and Amazon go to astronomical temperatures; far hotter than I think I'd need. What is the hottest temperature heat gun that I should be looking for? And if I were to get a very, very hot one, would the distance I hold it from the doll or the length of time I turn it on to the doll, negate the heat it generates?

If not a hair dryer, have you looked into embossing heat guns like they sell at craft stores in the scrapbooking section? They're usually for melting embossing powder, and might be lower temp than ones sold in hardware stores (though I don't know what kind you've been looking at online)."Enough expository banter. Is there a resource that would know what temp those paints need in order to set? I say this because temps could sound too high, but in fact be the heat you need.
I Googled the phrase "genesis heat set paints temperature" and here's the link for that search: https://www.google.com/search?q=lead...ts+temperature
I also found a resource that says heat setting wih an oven is possible for certain steps, but that a heat gun is good for other steps: http://secrist.activeboard.com/t2375...enesis-paints/
Don't know if anything helps, but I wish you luck with these; they look very difficult, but are rewarding to get right.1129. I will refrain from casting Dimension Jump and Magnificent Mansion on every police box we pass.
