Another "Why do you need my ID?"

I went to my credit union yesterday. A "kid" (about 18 yo) and a couple of his friends came in at the same time. I endorsed my checks as he filled out a withdrawal slip. I passed my stuff, WITH my ID to the teller, and I heard from my left, "What do you mean I need an ID? I didn't need one last time. I'm in here ALL the time."

My transaction was completed and I left before finding out exactly what transpired with them. I did hear something about calling his mother for verififation, but I really hope he did NOT get any money without an ID!

Well, I guess they wanna make sure that it was his account and all. The funny thing is when I go to the bank they never asked for my ID and well, I rarely go since I now have direct deposit.
